------------------------------------------------------ Negotiations and Conflict Management Skills in Action (1
and 2 Day Formats) This workshop is designed to give participants additional
skills in working with contractors, members of the public, and other professionals.
The course material focuses on difficult situations in the participants
work setting. The course covers such topics as when to negotiate, take
a stand or give in; how and when to use the contract as a reference point;
how to read nonverbal behaviors; when to let people vent their emotions
and how not to take it personally; how to use someone’s defensiveness,
anger, frustration to your advantage; when to ignore and when to confront
manipulation, threats, criticism; the power of perception in communications
and how to restructure perception; responding to undercurrent messages;
staying calm under pressure; guidelines for when to involve the boss and/or
other personnel, and steps to win/win solutions. This course uses role
plays, case studies and team activities so participants can practice skills
and see the impact of various negotiation styles and skills. The material
is designed to fit the participants' real work situations. |
