An Outline of a Typical Coaching Process
I.
IntroductionóIntroductory meeting with the participant and his or her
manager, and, if appropriate, Human Resources sponsor, to explain the
coaching process and answer questions. Background information search to
get details and related information (i.e. addresses, locations, history,
job descriptions, performance information, etc.) II.
Assessment and InterviewsóParticipant(s) completes evaluation instruments.
Coach conducts necessary in-depth interviews with participantís manager,
peers, direct reports, others. 360-degree instrument is completed.
III.
Feedback and Action Plan DevelopmentóWork with participant to take above
information and develop an action plan that identifies specific actions,
needed performance/behavior changes, and results to be achieved in key
performance areas. We also outline the coaching format for future commitments.
IV.
Ongoing Coaching SessionsóOne on One, phone, online and small group sessions
are conducted to achieve the results identified in the action plan.
V.
Meetings with Participantís Key InfluencersóTo get feedback on progress
and identify specific examples to use in coaching sessions, to share progress
and successes, and to identify needed development areas. These meetings
are also used to coordinate the documentation from coaching to performance
management and personnel decision support.
VI.
360-degree InstrumentóIs administered again to evaluate changes and success.
VII.
Evaluation and ClosureóEvaluate the process, results achieved, and finalize
a closure plan that ends the coaching but identifies next steps to keep
strategies and successes moving into the future.
