Objectives
------------------------------------------------------ WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
At completion of the seminar participants will be able to: 1. Apply the Steps of Change model to individuals and organizations to facilitate positive behavioral and policy/structural changes, 2. Analyze organizational problems caused by change and identify what needs to happen to bring about an effective change - using the Steps of Change and force field models to overcome resistance and barriers, 3. Identify the impact of change on interpersonal and organizational communications and implement techniques and strategies to increase interpersonal awareness, understanding and acceptance to resolve conflicts more effectively, 4. Identify and apply several techniques for managing individual emotional reactions and negative office politics aimed at resisting needed changes, 5. Use several techniques to organize and/or reorganize work to be done in a logical, participatory (when appropriate), high result fashion, even when the environment is subject to rapid changes, 6. Use a model to identify the appropriate level of employee participation according to the employee's ability and willingness to respond to the change, and then contract with the employee for a level of control and involvement and a leadership style from the supervisor, 7. Apply strategies for outlining changes to upper management and facilitating needed changes up through the organization, 8. Identify how to apply systematic, structured processes to change plans to ensure follow-up, feedback and success, 9. Outline a personal action plan for applying learned skills back on the job. 10. Identify strategies
for planning and implementing needed organizational changes in a fashion
